Enterasys unveils security routers

Enterasys Networks Inc. on Monday introduced two new secure routing platforms designed for large branch and regional offices.

The new XSR-3000 and XSR-4000 products are standards-based routers that integrate wide are networking (WAN), virtual private networking (VPN) and firewalling technologies on a single platform for secure data transmission across geographically dispersed locations, Enterasys said.

The offerings also come with IP routing and WAN interfaces for high-availability wide area networking with quality of service (QoS) and policy routing features for priority-sensitive applications as well as extranet, site-to-site and remote access VPN technologies for secure employee access across the Internet to enable high performance and configuration flexibility to keep up with changing network requirements, the company said.

Both routers support popular network management systems as well as Enterasys’ NetSight Atlas management applications for remote monitoring. For the XSR series, Enterasys has also announced two WAN network interface modules (NIM), the ADSL NIM and a T3/E3 NIM that supports fractional connections.

The XSR-3000 and XSR-4000 along with the new WAN interfaces will be generally available in July. In Canada, Enterasys is based in Toronto. For details, visit http://www.enterasys.com/.
