Enterasys Networks, a Cabletron Systems company, has announced the release of the new 6G306-06 to its SmartSwitch 6000 platform. The 6G306-06 provides six-Gigabit Ethernet ports and supports both multimode and single mode fibre via interchangeable modular interfaces. Designed to increase the availability of Gigabit Ethernet in the enterprise backbone, the 6G306-06 resides in Enterasys’ SmartSwitch 6000. According to Enterasys the 6G306-06 increases the port density available in the SmartSwitch 6000, while reducing the cost per port pricing and ensuring increased uptake of Gigabit connectivity.
