EllisDon Takes Top CIPA Honours

Canadian construction giant, EllisDon Corporation, was awarded top honors at the recent Canadian Information Productivity Awards (CIPA) for its EdgeBuilder Construction Management Solution, while the company’s VP & CIO, Bruce Fleming, was recognized as CIO of the year, winning the CIO Canada Award. The annual CIPA gala was held November 18 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

EllisDon’s EdgeBuilder is a custom, Web-enabled project management tool built by the company to manage all aspects of a construction project. It provides a comprehensive working environment, including document management, knowledge management and workflow management, that enables project staff, developers, architects, consultants and sub-contractors to all work collaboratively via the Internet.

“EdgeBuilder is helping us deliver a broader set of services to become a different kind of company,” said Fleming. “Now we’re more of a consulting partner, playing an integral role in projects starting much earlier in the project cycle. The award has validated our company-wide efforts to use technology to gain an industry leadership position.”
