CiRBA 4.6 extends virtualization management to mainframes

Richmond Hill, Ont.-based CiRBA Inc. has released Version 4.6 of its virtualization and consolidation analysis software. CiRBA 4.6 allows companies to plan and design virtualization implementations on any platform, extending analysis to mainframe computers. The application uses rules-based analysis of business and technical constraints and workload analysis to determine which UNIX and x86 applications are suitable to run on mainframes, and projects workload contention probabilities. CiRBA 4.6 also assesses the bandwidth and CPU implications of iSCSI-based storage area networking implementations and analyzes the impact of changes in the communication topology that may be caused by virtualization and can result in network latency.
