China bans pirated products in entertainment industry

China’s State Council, the country’s highest bureaucratic body, hasissued a set of regulations governing China’s entertainmentindustry that ban the use of pirated products at entertainmentvenues.

According to the new rules, which take effect on March 1,entertainment venues must use legal copies of music, videos andelectronic games, according to the official Xinhua News Agency,which published a copy of the regulations. Electronic games thatare used for gambling are also prohibited, it said.
