Canada Post chooses Ottawa firm for Oracle integration

An Ottawa integrator’s solution is giving retailers the ability to add the Canada Post’s shipping data into their Oracle Commerce-based platforms.

Thinkwrap Commerce, a nine-year old firm that specializes on solutions for the Oracle Commerce and Hybris online sales platforms, has developed plug-in accelerators for the post office that will make adding the shipping data easy for developers. The accelerators are built to version 10.2 of Oracle ATG Commerce’s Commerce Reference Store.

Retailers using Oracle Commerce can now offer customers options for shipping times, delivery locations, label printing with contract shipping and easy returns, as well as improved order tracking.

“This new collaboration will allow Canada’s biggest retailers to better meet their customers’ online shopping expectations by providing them with the kind of options they want,” Rene Desmarais, Canada Post’s senior vice-president for parcels, said in a statement. “Improving the end-to-end online shopping experience is key to making e-commerce in Canada stronger, and more competitive.”

”Transparency of the shipping process is an important component of delivering on commerce anywhere.  The collaboration between Thinkwrap and Canada Post will help Canadian retailers provide the experience their customers expect,” John Andrews, Oracle’s vice-president of product development, said.

Thinkwrap creates online stores on Oracle or Hybris that can include search tools, fraud prevention, payment solutions, managed services, social media integration and financing. The stores can connect to call centres and warehouses.

Customers include Cineplex Entertainment, Black’s Photography and Le Chateau.
