CA launches latest Linux solutions

Computer Associates International Inc. (CA) on Monday added more open-source weapons to its enterprise arsenal with the release of a dozen new Linux software solutions.

Targeted at heterogeneous enterprises, CA launched new versions of Unicenter Management for WebSphere, Unicenter Management Portal, eTrust Web Access Control and CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert.

For distributed environments, CA released BrightStor ARCserve Backup agents for Apache and MySQL; for mainframe environments, the company unveiled new versions of Unicenter Network and Systems ManagementJob Management Option and reporting tool Advantage CA-Easytrieve.

With the announcement, the Islandia, N.Y.-based vendor noted it now offers more than 60 open-source solutions to support Linux within multi-vendor IT environments. “Organizations have moved past the experimental pilot stage with Linux and are now implementing systems that are central to their core business needs,” said Sam Greenblatt, senior vice-president and chief architect of CA’s Linux Technology Group in a statement.

Greenblatt noted the CA offerings are designed to “integrate

those Linux resources into the larger enterprise technology landscape.”
