Enterasys Networks has released the first product under its new Vertical Horizon line of workgroup switches, formerly known as SmartSTACK, the Vertical Horizon 4802. The 4802 has 48 RJ-45 ports of 10/100 Ethernet switching and two modular slots for gigabit Ethernet uplinks. It supports integrated network management using a Web browser, a console port or a SNMP network management station, VLANS using the IEEE 802.1Q standard, IGMP snooping, priority queuing using the IEEE 802.1p standard, RMON support and port trunking. Switches previously branded as SmartSTACK will now carry the Vertical Horizon name, logo and colour. For more information, visit www.enterasys.com.

Canon Canada Inc.‘s new MultiPASS C755 Bubble Jet printer uses separate ink tanks for each colour and the Canon Think Tank System, offering intelligent ink management. Designed for the small and home office (SOHO) market, the C755 provides 1440X720 dpi resolution and a print speed of up to nine pages per minute in monochrome using the optional BC-30e cartridge and four pages per minute in colour. Using the Super G3 fax technology, the C755’s monochrome and colour fax transmission speed is three seconds per page. The MultiPASS C755 offers parallel and USB connectivity and has a foot measuring 43.7 cm wide by 42.9 cm deep by 24.4 cm high with a weight of 6.6 kg. For more information, visit www.ccsi.canon.com.

The newest member of Hitachi Data Systems‘ Freedom Storage Lightning 9900 line, the Model 9910, was released in November. Based on the Hi-Star internal switched-network architecture, the 9910 joins the Model 9960, which was released last June. The 9910 was designed with the mid-sized business and divisions of larger companies in mind. According to Hitachi, the 9910 provides unlimited scaling capacity and has many of the features included in the 9960 model, including SAN readiness, non-disruptive data movement software, high-availability software, high throughput, no single point of failure, non-disruptive upgrades and service, load balancing and the HiTrack call home automatic diagnostic service in a compact design.
