Hewlett-Packard Canada Ltd. announced late last month that it was adding new service management products and services to its HP OpenView software. The new products announced include: HP OpenView Transaction Analyzer, which automates the isolation of performance bottlenecks in both J2EE and .NET application infrastructures; HP OpenView Smart Plug-In for webMethods, which provides the delivery and maintenance of business processes; HP OpenView Smart Plug-In for IBM WebSphere, which enables management of WebSphere environments; and HP OpenView Smart Plug-In for Sun ONE Web Services, to manage Web services built with the Sun ONE architecture. The company also announced expanded storage management offerings, including HP OpenView Storage Data Protector and HP OpenView Storage Area Manager. Due to the increase in use of 48-port switches within the enterprise market, Asante Technologies Inc. in San Jose has launched a 48-port 10/100 enterprise switch with two integrated gigabit Ethernet uplinks. Priced at US$1,773, the IntraCore 3548 supports IEEE 802.1q virtual LANs (VLANs), SNMP, RMON, Telnet, Web management and 802.1ad spinning tree. The company said management features include statistics, port configuration, security and utility to detect duplicate IP addresses. Users start with a base configuration of a 48-port 10/100, and then chooses from two different auto-selecting dual gigabit Ethernet uplinks with copper or GBIC for fibre, according to Asante. An optional DC back-up power supply is also available from the company. The IC35-EPS12 will ensure continued operation in situations of primary power failure, the company said.
