PureEdge Solutions, an XML e-forms software developer based in Victoria, recently launched the PureEdge Deployment Server to simplify software deployment across the enterprise, the company said. Part of the its PureEdge Internet Commerce System family, the new offering was developed to enable large businesses and government to easily deploy PureEdge’s XML e-forms software. The server automatically kicks in whenever a user needs software, and is able to upgrade software to the client invisibly or under control form any Web page, the company said. The Deployment Server is able to share a server, does not need a third-party database to track users and installations, and can use any install package. The offering also includes PureEdge’s LightWeight Installer, which delivers a remote installation service through a small 150K program, which the company says is smaller than most packages, thereby saving bandwidth during deployment. For details, the company can be found on the Web at www.PureEdge.com. Pricing was not available at press time.

Houston-based Advanced Reality Inc. announced last month that it was releasing the Presence-AR Adapter for Microsoft PowerPoint, enabling real-time interactive presentation capabilities for PowerPoint users. The company said the Presence-AR Adapter allows an unlimited number of users to securely collaborate in PowerPoint presentations over LAN and WAN links using standard versions of Microsoft’s software. The Presence-AR Adapter allows users to launch a peer-to-peer collaboration session, which features the ability to chat with other participants. The offering uses a new technology known as mutability, the company says, enabling PowerPoint to transparently failover to another computer, enabling a session to continue even if the host is disconnected or signs off. Available now, pricing for 15 non-transferable licenses, session directory software and relay server software begins at US$1,295.
