Late last month, Melville, N.Y.-based FalconStor Software Inc. announced it has teamed with IBM Corp. to offer high-performance and high-availability network storage. The company said its IPStor software is now fully compatible with IBM’s StorageSmart offering which is part of its Storage Array family of RAID subsystems. FalconStor said its IPStor offering complements ProFibre with SAN-based services over Fibre Channel, IP/iSCSI and NAS-based services over the NFS and CIFS protocols. The two companies said the combination of their respective offerings provides a storage solution that offers high availability, performance, security, scalability and a complete set of storage services for rapid data recovery. New London, Conn.-based cabling systems provider Ortronics Inc. recently released iTRACS-Ready Clarity patch panels for structured cabling solutions. The company explained that when used with iTRACS’ network monitoring software, the new patching system enables businesses to reduce IT management costs and improve network service levels by automatically documenting network topology, moves, adds and changes as well as identifying port connectivity problems in real-time. The patch panels incorporate proprietary patch cords, sensor strips and analyzers needed to transmit network information back to the iTRACS software. ITRACS-Ready Clarity patches are available now. Las Vegas-based NetTest, a provider of testing and management solutions for converged networks, last month launched a series of additions to its test and management product suite. The company announced VoIP Test Suite which includes automated features allowing users to “click and go” in order to help manufacturers reduce time to market. The company also introduced metroWATCH PDA for handhelds. NetTest’s metroWATCH monitors the status of metro optical networks and with its new PDA capabilities it enables net managers to get access to information concerning their metro optical networks virtually anywhere.
