Brazilian Linux effort launched

Brazil has become the latest country to show its support for Linux. Following moves by the U.K. and Russia, the government of Brazil announced that it has signed a letter of intent with IBM Corp. pledging to develop initiatives that will promote the use of Linux in the Latin American country.

“This is basically a first step. What this document means is that we will work together, both the government of Brazil and IBM, on developing Linux in the public sector,” said Sebastian Mocorrea, IBM’s vice-president of government relations for Latin America.
