Jericho, New York-based vendor of finger-activated security products bioMETRX Inc. said it can reduce component and manufacturing costs of its fingerprint authentication products using a “single-chip” technology from Oki Semiconductor Company.

bioMETRX recently announced it would sample Oki’s ML67Q5250, technology for fingerprint authentication, in an effort to lower cost of its smartTOUCH finger-activated consumer products, and expand its markets.

“After several weeks of testing the OKI solution, we have concluded that incorporating OKI’s ML67Q5250 solution into our core design, will allow us to offer a cost effective, easy-to-use, high performance solution to use in all of our products across a wide range of vertical consumer markets,” said bioMETRX’s CEO Mark R. Basile.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Oki Semiconductor Company is a division of Oki America Inc., which is a subsidiary of Oki Electric Industry Co. Ltd.
