Aussies see innovation gap, too

For several years now, there’s been a nagging chorus from business leaders in Canada: Innovation means better productivity, and, as a country, we’re falling behind.

According to a survey by executive search firm Harvey Nash that included 210 Australian CIOs, as reported in CIO Australia, 99 per cent of CIOs surveyed felt technology innovation is a differentiator in their industry, and 71 per cent said without embracing new technology, their companies risked losing market share.

However, only two per cent said they had delivered on all their innovation projects, and 7 per cent said they’d made no progress at all.

It will be interesting to see how those results tally with our own survey results when they’re released. The survey is in the final stages of analysis and review, and should be available soon.
