Re: “Engineer name battle rages” (by Stefan Dubowski, March 8, page 16). My brother-in-law is a Stationary Engineer, a close friend is a retired Railway Engineer, proficient in both steam and diesel in his day, and I have a number of friends who are Flight Engineers on both fixed and rotary winged aircraft. They are all engineers in their own right, and seem to be quite a bit more secure in their professions than the narrow minded directors of the various P.Eng. (Professional Engineers) associations in Canada.

It’s time the various P.Eng. associations woke up to the fact that engineers were in vogue long before they “invented” the term engineer. My guess is that a large percentage of the population would think of them more as petty whiners than professional engineers.
