Alliance makes move into Canada

Alliance Data Systems Corp. has acquired Enlogix Group for an undisclosed amount, and is using the acquisition as a way to make an entrance into the Canadian utility market. Alliance will now begin offering customer information systems (CIS) hosting for five utility companies that include Union Gas and Pacific Northern Gas.

With offices across North America and New Zealand, Alliance Data provides transaction, credit and marketing services to the retail, petroleum, financial services, utility and hospitality markets. The company also has a CRM-based Transaction Services product.

Enlogix, sold by Duke Energy to Alliance, is an application service provider (ASP) in the energy industry.

Alliance currently works with a variety of regulated and deregulated energy companies in the U.S., providing billing and customer care. This arrangement provides a foray for Alliance into the Canadian utility market and the opportunity to expand its service offerings into Canada, the company said.

“This deal reinforces the success we’ve had in the utility marketplace, and by adding to our capabilities, reaffirms our position in outsourcing for the utility industry,” said Mike Beltz, president for the transactions services group at Alliance Data.
