Aircraft maintenance software includes digital signature

MXI Technologies Ltd. of Ottawa has added digital signature capability to its Maintenix aircraft maintenance management software.

The vendor, which recently won a contract from Air Canada, said the new version of the software lets airlines designate any maintenance activity as requiring digital sign-off by a supervisor, inspector or technician. This way the record is encrypted and stored in a database, which can be viewed at any time but not change.

MXI includes several signature options, including swipe card, fingerprint-protected USB key or other physical token. Maintenix also provides alerts so engineers can find out about conflicts or errors. Other features include searches and reports by date.
