This afternoon at EMC World 2009 in Orlando, EMC president Joe Tucci and VMware president Paul Maritz held a press conference with members of the international technology press. I had my little Flip camera with me, so I thought I’d share a few snippets of the conference that may be of topical interest.
The first clip is Tucci answering the question I blogged about earlier today. Namely, is EMC going to go shopping with some of that US$9.8B war chest it has accumulated. Short answer: yes.
In the second clip, Tucci and Maritz comment on the acquisition strategy of Oracle (including, for example, Sun Microsystems), and how it could impact EMC and VMware.
And finally, in this clip Tucci delicately comments on the issue of David Donatelli, whose departure from EMC last week as president of the storage division to take the post of executive vice-president, enterprise servers, storage and networking with rival HP as of May 5th has led to an exchange of legal filings related to non-compete clauses.
