Sue Spradley, head of North America for Nokia Siemens Networks, spoketo the Economic Club of Canada at the Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto.Spradley, a former executive with Nortel Networks Corp., said hercompany is hiring and now has 75 full-time employees, plus 100contractors, in Canada.

Spradleysaid an acquisition of Nortel units that make CDMA and LTE wirelessproducts will help make Nokia Siemens Networks stronger in NorthAmerica.

Michelle Warren, an independent Toronto-basedconsultant, agrees a Nokia Siemens Networks acquisition would makesense due to the company’s industry expertise.

Last month, NokiaSiemens Networks placed a “stalking horse” bid for US$650 million forNortel’s CDMA and LTE assets. Competing bids are due July 21.
