It’s a sign of the times. REM plans to release its upcoming album on Facebook using the iLike application.
We’re not sure what’s the major news item here – the fact the REM is using Facebook to launch an album, or the fact that the 27-year-old band is still making music.
REM’s upcoming album, Accelerate, is scheduled for release March 31, but according to recent published reports the group will use iLike to give Facebook users a preview March 24. iLike is a social networking tool that lets users share their musical interests and is not affiliated with iPod maker Apple Computer Inc.
