Uncategorized Security can wait every once and awhile Rafael Ruffolo @itworldca Published: September 4th, 2009I don’t think many of you will agree with that headline, but apparently Oracle does.Thesoftware giant is actually delaying its Oct. 13 security patch releasefor one week in order to avoid a conflict with Oracle’s OpenWorldconference. The event is being held in San Francisco from Oct. 11 to 15.Oraclesaid it was delaying the patches, which are rolled out to databaseadministrators on a set schedule every three months, to give itscustomers a chance to attend the conference without having to worryabout “deploying the Critical Patch Update within their respectiveorganizations.”While it’s nice to see a vendor cutting itscustomers a break like this, Oracle should probably rename this patchupdate. It’s not really “critical” if it can wait a week, is it?Would you recommend this article?00 Thanks for taking the time to let us know what you think of this article!
