SAP slashes IT budget, joins the hiring freeze

SAP is slashing its own IT budget and enacting a hiring freeze, according to an internal memo obtained by The Wall Street Journal’s Business Technology Blog. (Thanks to ValleyWag for the heads-up.) This comes in the wake of Microsoft’s own hiring freeze, which they have spun as a reconsidering of their current hiring strategies. Right.

The company commands that no new IT equipment be bought, and that all planned IT investments are being reviewed.

All open positions have been eradicated (including interns andstudents), and people leaving SAP won’t be replaced. Recruiters andmanagement consultants are also being sacked.

Meetings must now be held on SAP property, and employee travel cancelled.
