Paessler perks up network monitor iPhone app

Paessler AG has added new functions in version 2 of its iPRTG for iPhone network monitoring applications. Administrators can now see all network sensors on screen and create a list of “favorite” sensors to keep track of critical units. “The goal is to give network administrators freedom to step away from the office and have a more mobile tool for network monitoring,” said Ken Sanofsky, Paessler's general manager for North America.
iPRTG connects to servers running Paessler's full PRTG network and performance monitoring application via HTTPS or HTTP over VPN, 3G, EDGE, GPRS or WiFi/WLAN networks. It not only runs on all versions of iPhone and iPod Touch handhelds running iPhone OS v3. and up, it can also be used on iPads.
For detail on any sensor, the user only has to tap on the screen. A sensor tree shows sensors by groups or devices as well as alarm status. It can also show a schematic of the entire network with numerous metrics. Sensor data is updated every 30 seconds.
IPRTG costs US$11.99 at Apple's iTunes store.
