The New Democratic Party hasn't returned our calls requesting an interview on IT-specific issues and platform planks. We'll update this page as soon as we've had a chance to interview a party representative. Meanwhile, the party's platform doesn't address IT specifically, though there are plenty of platform planks that affect the industry. The party promises pan-Canadian sector-based industrial strategies, with information processing identified as one of the 20 sectors. The party also promises job-focussed trade strategies to keep jobs from moving overseas by making it harder to import from companies with unacceptable environmental, employment and wage standards, and make it easier for Canadian companies to export. Read the New Democratic Party platform here.
