Microsoft slags open source

Some press releases we get make poor Sharky's blood boil!

Our IT overlord Microsoft is no fan of open source software: why offer it for free when you can sell it? (Or, in their case, have a near-monopoly.)

This bully-ish attitude has even made it into the company's press releases! A recent pitch to Sharky was built around the hidden dangers of open source software and all the awful things that can happen if you dare to go free.

To wit: “Some are of the impression that organizations should be all over free open source software especially during times of economic downturn; however, the City of Greater Sudbury warns that those looking into this option should beware of hidden costs.”
