How to Log in:
You will be provided with a user name and password via email form the IT World Canada / Computer world Team. To log in simply go to: http://blogs.itworldcanada.com/idol/wp-admin/ or click on the Login link at the bottom of the side bar on the Blogging Idol website.
How to update your Profile:
Once logged in it will display your user name in the Upper right corner of the admin area. By clicking on the name you will be taken to the profile page where you can add your Bio and fill out the fields on how you would like your name to display…etc.
To add a custom picture to your Author page you will have to put in a url to your photo hosted on the internet into the field called: (it will have default.jpg in it already) If you do not have a suitable picture already on the net you can add the photo you wish to display into the blogging Idols media library and use that images url to add it to your Author page.
How to write Posts
Writing post is actually the easy part, when you are ready to begin posting simply click on the Write->Post tab and you will be taken to the posting editor. You should have options to write in both the Visual and Html editors (If you have MSWord style buttons like bold and italic youre all set, otherwise you may have to go to your profile page and select the check box that says “use visual text editor when writing”).
Use the MORE tag: It helps if click on the “More” tag in the admin system as the post will then display on the home page with only an excerpt of the post (everything before the more tag) and will give more consistency to the home page.
Categories: Make sure you pick tha appropriate category for your post form the Category drop down on the right sidebar of the blog editor.
Writing with the visual editor is quite simple and similar to both MS Word and blogger, you should get the hang of it really quick.

How to add images
Above the text editor thier is an area called “Add media:” with a couple of icons beside it, simply select the image icon and follow the prompts to upload an image from your PC and embed it into your post. This is similar to most image uploads on the web and has both a flash and javascript version that you can select if you are having problems.
How To Add Media
To add a relevant video of SWF you do not seled add video fropm the “Add Media:” bar you actually click on the last 2 icons in the text editor bar.
allows you to submit a url to a video and will automatically embed the video.
will allow you to paste embed code found on popular sites like You Tube.
