Dell surrenders to Linux demand

ComputerWorld's Todd Weiss reports that, after several false starts, Dell has now said that in response to consumer demand it will definitely begin offering select laptops and PCs preloaded with Linux. Further details are expected in the next few weeks.

In the blogs, Ryan Block wants to know how much cash he might save by escaping the “Microsoft tax” and Jason Kolb thinks it's the “beginning of the end” for Microsoft. On the contrarian side, Dwight Silverman declares its all much ado about nothing.
