It is with some concern that I read my dear friend Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, is suffering the slings and arrows of a civil suit — spurious, absolutely, I’m certain — from the Securities and Exchange Commission. (Okay, so I don’t actually KNOW him, but we’ve corresponded. Twice.)
The SEC alleges that in 2004, Cuban acted on insider information to ditch his investment in Momma.com Inc. before realizing a $750,000 loss. Cuban is accusing the SEC of misconduct.
