Cuban smoked

It is with some concern that I read my dear friend Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, is suffering the slings and arrows of a civil suit — spurious, absolutely, I’m certain — from the Securities and Exchange Commission. (Okay, so I don’t actually KNOW him, but we’ve corresponded. Twice.)

The SEC alleges that in 2004, Cuban acted on insider information to ditch his investment in Momma.com Inc. before realizing a $750,000 loss. Cuban is accusing the SEC of misconduct.

Why blog about this in a respected IT-related venue such as this? Well, sports fans know him as the mercurial owner of the Mavs whose sideline antics have netted him fines and censure. The NBA seems to feel that
