Cisco to buy PostPath

CiscoSystems says it will acquire privately held PostPath, Inc., a providerof innovative e-mail and calendaring software. Based in Mountain View,Calif. with additional development operations in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ciscosaid PostPath will enhance the existing e-mail and calendaringcapabilities of its WebEx Connect collaboration platform.

“Theacquisition of PostPath complements our strategy to develop anintegrated collaboration platform designed for how we work today andinto the future, providing real productivity gains and a moresatisfying user experience,” Doug Dennerline, senior vice-president ofCisco’s collaboration software group, said in a press release. “Our‘cloud-based’ delivery model offers our customers rapid deployment andcompelling economics.”

PostPath’sLinux-based e-mail, calendaring and collaboration solution isinteroperable with many other e-mail solutions and provides abrowser-independent AJAX Web client. In addition, PostPath’s softwareis compatible with a number of mobile clients.
