A small Canadian software company has made an acquistion it hopes will expand its footprint in business and government communications. Enghouse Systems Ltd. of Markham, Ont., has bought Britain's Mettoni Group, whose divisions make a number of unified communications solutions. It units include Arc Solutions, which designs voice applications for Cisco Unified Communications platforms, Datapulse, which makes voice solutions for Nortel IP phones and Exxcom, which makes Web-based hosted services allowing enterprises to control telecom costs.
The purchase price was around $23 million.
Enghouse has a family of software companies of its own including Syntellect Inc., which makes contact centre applications for a number of industries, Gamma Projects, a Wales-based developer of NetOne software, which lets telecommunication companies to streamline the implementation and operation of mobile network infrastructures, and Ontira Communications Inc., which makes transit communications systems.
“We are delighted with the acquisition of Mettoni,” Stephen Sadler, Enghouse chairman and CEO, said in a news release. “This acquisition provides the Company with an excellent opportunity to grow both operationally and geographically, with a powerful combined product and services offering that is unrivalled in our market.”
“This transaction provides huge opportunities for Arc Solutions, Datapulse and Exxcom,” Mettoni chair Iain McKenzie said in the same release. “We look forward to continuing to provide the best solutions and support to our customers and channels across the world, while accelerating our planned growth and gaining access to an extended portfolio and further resources.”
Publicly traded Enghouse had revenue of $78.4 million in fiscal 2009, which ended Oct. 31, with net income of $6.7 million. In its latest quarter it pulled in $19.5 million and had net income of $1.9 million.
