Bill’s last day

Published: January 11th, 2008

So Bill Gates won’t have a full-time gig at Microsoft after this July. That means no more keynotes at the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, where he often exhibited the sort of self-deprecating humour that completely eludes Hillary Clinton. (Oh, come on, it’s the middle of the primaries — Hillary’s name is gold in the search engines.)

Bill’s farewell this year featured a video envisioning what his last day at work might be like.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer opens up by deadpanning that “He’s worked pretty hard … saved a bit.” That’s followed by about eight minutes hitting every Bill Gates cliche: Playing with Star Wars figures, a session with a personal trainer, etc. It’s also replete with hilarious cameos (we shan’t give them away here). Stay till the end, it’s worth it.
