And they’ll throw in the software and hardware business …

Wags at Business Review Online's open Source Blog recently broke the story that IBM is nearing a $6.5-billion deal to buy Sun Microsystems Inc. CEO Jonathan Schwarz's blog.

The deal would “lend weight to the argument that (Schwarz) was right to spend so much of his time blogging since he was appointed in April 2006, rather than tinkeing about with details like the operational excellence of one of the largest IT companies in the world.”

The deal would include the rights to use the name “Jonathan's Blog” and all related branding, and also “an ancillary hardware, systems and software company that IBM is believed to think 'might come in handy if the ass falls out of the blogging market.'”
