Absolute Software Corp. of Vancouver has hired Carter McCrary, a former Dell executive, as its chief operating officer.

McCrary is a former area vice-president for Dell Inc. and was president of Digital Axis, a value-added reseller.

Absolute Software’s services, sold under the Computrace brand,include data protection and secure asset tracking, which detects astolen notebook’s location every 15 minutes. Absolute claims withComputrace, users can pin down the location within 10 metres. Systemsrequirements include a Gobi wireless module.

Computrace also provides 26 reports, including software licenses,leasing information, hardware configuration and security policyviolations.
