CommerceNet is a global non-profit organization that has been evolving to meet the needs of companies doing electronic commerce since 1994. This community of influential eCommerce decision-makers is over 600 strong, with a focus on business-to-business eCommerce worldwide. CommerceNet is uniquely poised to not only talk about eCommerce, but to actively work in collaboration with industry executives, academia, entrepreneurs, and investors to promote and advance eCommerce globally. Electronic Commerce Canada
Electronic Commerce Canada is a voluntary organization composed of an executive from both the public and private sectors. It is a networking forum for sharing information and discussing ideas and initiatives. Free half-day educational awareness seminars are conducted monthly, from September to June, for those interested in electronic technologies. It provides symposiums and trade shows to encourage its members to use e-commerce and conform to accepted standards that will increase productivity and improve competitiveness. Some technologies addressed by ECC include streamlining processes, interconnectivity, Internet, electronic data interchange (EDI), electronic funds transfer, e-mail, security, electronic document management, workflow processing, middleware, bar coding, imaging, smart cards, voice response, and networking. Key philosophies include implementation methodologies and technology standards.

Project 2000 was founded in 1994 as a five-year research program to study the marketing implications of commercializing the World Wide Web. In December 1999, Project 2000 was renamed “eLab.” eLab will continue Project 2000’s academic research on Web business models, online consumer behavior, and policy issues in electronic commerce.
Information Technology Association of Canada
Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) has been called the voice of the Canadian information technology industry. Together with partner organizations across the country, it represents 1,300 companies in the computing and telecommunications hardware, software, services, and electronic content sectors. This network of companies accounts for more than 70% of the 512,000 jobs, $116.4 billion in revenue, $4.4 billion in R&D expenditure and $30.8 billion in exports that IT contributes annually to the Canadian economy. The website offers a comprehensive overview of the Association’s efforts to promote and foster the development of Canada’s information technology (IT) industry.
Canada Business Service Centres
The Canada Business Service Centres (CBSCs) bill themselves as the gateway to government information for business, reducing the complexity of dealing with various levels of government. The CBSCs provide information on government services, programs and regulations and are there to answer questions about starting a new business or improving an existing one.
e-Team Canada
e-Team Canada is a voluntary, private sector-led initiative in which the public sector has been a full and equal partner. Industry Canada, through the Electronic Commerce Task Force, is providing the secretariat support for the efforts in this area of The Canadian E-Business Opportunities Roundtable, co-chaired by John Roth of Nortel Networks and David Pecaut of The Boston Consulting Group of Canada (BCG). Industry Canada is also working closely with the Roundtable on a series of regional events aimed at helping Canadian small & medium-sized businesses (SMEs) understand and act on the e-business imperative.
