Sybase to boost Wi-Fi

Sybase Inc. plans to invest US$25 million during the next year to make using Wi-Fi more practical for accessing enterprise applications.

The focus will be on application persistence over different network connections, network security, and the local caching of data.

A portion of the investment will go toward building a network of competency centres for Wi-Fi research, the first of which will be at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario.
