Seismic data calculation software announced

Acceleware Corp. of Calgary has unveiled a seismic data acceleration application, which is designed to reduce the time required to calculate data.

The software uses the parallel processing capability of graphics processing units (GPUs) to recover subsurface images of the earth’s interior, using data from seismic reflection surveys. The product is designed for the oil and gas industry. The technique is designed for two-dimensional and three-dimensional data, on both land and sea.

Acceleware claims its GPUs can accelerate simulation and processing algorithms by over 35 times. Its products include the Accelerator GPU and two versions of the Cluster in a Box workstation, which is available in a dual and a quad version.
