Network Applications Briefs

Instant messaging (IM) applications provider FaceTime Communications recently announced the availability of its IM Auditor 2.0 application, enabling network administrators to install a back-end software server behind their Internet firewall to monitor and manage instant messaging communication across any private or public IM network. New features in the product include: the ability to specify restricted phrases and keywords by groups; more sophisticated control over permissions in relation to which employees can and cannot use IM; and identity management, which the company says allows employee buddy and screen names to be mapped out to an employee’s corporate ID, allowing network managers to know who is using what screen name. More information about the product and company can be found on FaceTime’s Web site at www.facetime.com.

DYS Analytics Inc. of Wellesley, Mass., last month announced the latest release of its Email CONTROL! product for Lotus Notes and Domino. According to the company, the product provides network managers with automated, hands-off analysis and reporting on e-mail traffic. Enhancements in version 4.0 of the product include a service level agreement (SLA) wizard and new SLA-specific reports, allowing managers to develop objectives in relation to service levels, as well as to measure compliance. The new version offers enhanced automation, including data collection, report distribution and task scheduling, and also offers increased scalability and performance in large-scale networks. Available this quarter, Email CONTROL! 4.0 will be priced on a per seat basis. For more information, visit the company online at www.dysanalytics.com.
