FBI awards IT contract to DynCorp

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) awarded a US$51 million contract to DynCorp to upgrade the FBI’s IT infrastructure last Friday.

DynCorp, a 53-year-old technology services and outsourcing company, won the IT and transportation components of the “trilogy” program and will execute the first year of the three-year program.

The contract calls for the upgrade of the FBI’s networks worldwide as well as upgrades of the computer systems and selected software applications, an FBI spokesman said. The upgrades will make the most use possible of commercial, off-the-shelf equipment and employ a new enterprise management system, according to the FBI.

The upgrade is expected to begin within the next several weeks.

The FBI, in Washington, can be reached at http://www.fbi.gov; DynCorp, in Reston, Va., can be reached at http://www.dyncorp.com.
