Enterprise Networks Briefs

Network management software provider OPNET Technologies Inc. last month announced OPNET 8.0, the eighth release of the core technology in its Guru, Modeler and Netbiz products. The Bethesda, Md.-based company said it sells software solutions to three distinct markets: ServiceProvider Guru for service providers; IT Guru for enterprises; and Modeler and Netbiz to equipment manufacturers. The company said that many of the 8.0 capabilities are offered in modular extensions to the four products including the Multi-Vendor Import (MVI) Module which automatically generates network models and the NetDoctor Module, which automates the process of identifying and solving configuration problems. The release also includes an improved model library and a new QoS hybrid simulation engine, designed to improve the speed of QoS analyzes, the company said. OPNET 8.0 is available now.
