network

A computer network is a number of computing devices connected by communications links enabling them to exchange data and share resources. In addition to the computers served by a network, it may include devices such as hubs, switches, bridges and/or routers that facilitate and manage the movement of data within the network.  The first network was the U.S. Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET), which also gave birth to what we now know as the Internet.
