What is Master Data Management

Master data management (MDM) attempts to bring discipline to the administration of key data elements to create a consistent view of those elements across the organization. MDM introduces governance over the ‘permanent’, non-transactional data owned by the company such as customers, employees, products, suppliers, etc. MDM involves processes including data discovery, matching, quality assurance and consolidation to ensure consistency and accuracy in the maintenance and use of the data.
