iPhone Security Measures to Consider

The iPhone has become a very effective business tool for professionals on the go. It has allowed them to not only remain in touch with the office, but also increase productivity with the many tools that can be used on the phone.

It is ideal for business people across many different industries throughout Canada regardless if they are a sole proprietor or a one of many professionals within a large corporation.

It’s up to date technology allows users to remain connected with their clients and colleagues through a number of interactive platforms such as instant messaging, social media, text, and voice communications.

With so many features, many professionals heavily rely on their iPhone as their main source to connect with the business world. They keep their contacts, agenda, planner, schedule, emails, and other important documents loaded on the phone for instant access no matter where they are located.

However, such reliance can come at a cost. Losing or having your personal mobile phone stolen is bad enough, but when it is a professional’s main source to remain connected, it can have a severe impact on business practices. Therefore, IPhone security has become an important issue when it comes to mobile devices.

IPhone Security

If you use your iPhone for business, then security should be a concern. The last thing a professional wants is to have:

  • Confidential business information leaked
  • Their memory erased or damaged
  • Contact information stolen
  • Personal information such as passwords and pin numbers compromised

The security threats associated with iPhone are just as real as with other forms of technology. Every day people have their phones stolen or hacked by people seeking to exploit the information on their device.

To reduce the risk and security threats, there are a number of measures that can be taken by business professionals to ensure their phone is safe:

  1. Never leave your phone unattended: One of the biggest mistake people make it leaving their smart phone unattended. Regardless if you are at the office, visiting a client, or in public, there are always people looking to get their hands on an iPhone.
  2. Lock your phone: While it may feel like an inconvenience, lock you phone when you are not using it. This will ensure the information on your phone is protected in case it is lost or stolen. It will also prevent you from the frequent and often embarrassing pocket dial.
  3. Be cautious with your PIN: Locking your phone is one thing, but keeping your PIN private is another thing. Beyond making sure that your PIN is unique and not easy to figure out, always make sure no one is looking at you when you are entering it.
  4. Consider getting a holder: Getting a holder for your phone will ensure you know where it is at all times, rather than searching through your pockets or laptop bag, where it could easily be misplaced.
  5. Update the software: Keeping your iPhone software up to date is an important step in ensuring that your phone is protected from being hacked. Software updates make sure your phone is protected against the latest threats.
  6. Don’t jailbreak your device: The jailbreak process will leave users data unprotected. Therefore users should not purchase a phone that has gone through the process or get it done. Professionals with sensitive data cannot afford to risk their phone being compromised.
  7. Have a backup: Many professionals use Exchange Server to back up all of their settings and messages. More importantly, if your phone is compromised, users can blank their device to ensure their data remains private.
