too early to call a success?

This is one of those stories that I'm not at all sad to hear, because it proves something I was wondering when I first heard of iBooks 2; this could sell more textbooks in general.

Apple's move, further aligning itself with education, has made textbooks a little cheaper and a lot easier to carry around, potentially guaranteeing that the next generation of high school and university students will carry a small tablet instead of a 45 lb, over-stuffed bookbag.

But, the thing that interested me most, was the idea that, by stripping away some of the hardships regular folks are pinned with in getting textbooks (where they're sold and for what exorbitant amounts) non-students might start looking at buying textbooks as an alternative means to self-teaching. If you're really interested in psychology, programming, or seemingly anything else, why not go right to the source - the text that students actually use - to fuel your private studies?

Judging by the early sales, I'd say that's precisely what could happen.
