Dell’s latest X-Series switches targets SMBs

Dell is rolling out a line of smart managed networking switches designed to provide small and medium-sized companies a configurable enterprise-class environment that is easy to set-up and maintain.

Easy-to-navigate dashboards and step-by-step wizards will help network administrators configure and optimise networks with the new Dell Networking X-Series switches. The line consists of smart-managed 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 10GbE switches.

The X-Series has an intuitive interface so customers can also use the switches’ advanced network management features without seeking the help of professional IT support, according to Dell.

With the new switches, customers will also be able to monitor and optimize traffic across physical, cloud and hybrid environments with real-time analytics features.

Dell also announced the N1500 family of fully managed 1GbE switches for smaller networks.

The switches use a comprehensive enterprise-class Layer 2/3 feature set, common command-line interface for management and standard 10GbE SFP+ transceivers and cables for stacking.

The switches provide up to 200 1GbE ports in a 4-unit stack. The line is designed to help SMBs deploy a secure network optimized for voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and social environments.
