IT WORLD CANADA CURATED The company says the new product is aimed at users who are increasingly using Mac hardware in a Windows business environment

Building on the sucess of previous version Fusion 4, VMware has released a new edition of its software that allows people to run Windows virtual machines on Apple hardware. The latest release has been optimized for Windows 8, the company says, and will come in two versions: Fusion 5 and Fusion 5 Professional.

The professional edition includes capabilities like restricted virtual machines that enterprises can maintain full control over, and comes with a licence for the new VMware Player 5 (which runs on Windows boxes). This means companies  can run restricted Mac, Linux or Windows virtual machines on whatever hardware they choose.
