Montréal school becomes the first francophone school to participate in the Apple service

The Université de Montréal has become the first French speaking university to join the iTunes U network.

The university announced Thursday that its professors and administration will be able to reach its students by uploading audio and video podcast materials – including lectures, documentaries or other course content – to the Apple Inc. service. The school hopes iTunes U will be able to reach prospective students from around the world, looking to get a taste of what it has to offer.

Université de Montréal professors will be encouraged to record and post their best lectures to the service as current plans suggest the school will update the site on weekly updates.

The school joins U.S. institutions such as Duke, Standford, MIT and Queen’s, who already take part in the service.

The content is available at http://itunesu.umontreal.ca.
