Telus on Thursday said it had completed a $100 million project to bring high-speed Internet to wireless customers in Alberta and B.C.
The company has spent the last three years installing hardware at more than 1,100 cell sites in the two provinces, with the final location being Mount Byng, near Port Alice on northern Vancouver Island. The project means the wireless service now reaches about 95 per cent of residents, according to Telus.
Customers can expect download speeds of about 450 to 800 Kbps to 3.1 Mbps and enhanced upload speeds of approximately 300 Kbps to of 1.8 Mbps. The service runs on Telus’ EVDO network.
