Calling for input on open source through Merx, the government's online public tender system, is an encouraging move towards greater acceptance of open source software in the government, but at least one open source expert said the RFI missed the mark

"I think it is a good move. They are seeking information so that they can intelligently evaluate open source software when they consider it," he said.
