Python simplifies big data

Language can become the lingua franca for mixed teams of big data experts

Python can provide an elegant solution to complicated big data problems, according to AppNexus, a company that develops advertising applications.

Python's syntax is well known to be quite intuitive and easy to pick up for new programmers. Yet it's still a powerful languagrthat can perform many of the same functions as more specialized statistical modelling languages, according to this ComputerWorld article.

As the article points out, the appeal of a simple programming language in a development environment dealing with big data problems is because of cross-section of employees who can be involved, some of whom are statisticians or engineers, and not programmers with significant IT backgrounds. Thus, Python becomes a common framework that they can all learn easily-- in fact, AppNexus has an intern teaching the course.
