Ontario government to help laid-off RIM workers

IT WORLD CANADA CURATED: Provincial government will work with lobby group Communitech and two Ontario universities to soften the blow of RIM's restructuring

Employment Ontario will help some of the former Research in Motion Ltd. employees find jobs in the Waterloo, Ont. region. As well, the University of Waterloo is setting up programs aimed at teaching them the skills to start new businesses. RIM has laid off thousands of workers around the world, which in one sense, has had a positive effect on the job market.
